Self Defence

The further out you seek
The less you understand.

(Lao Tzu)

Water

All living things require water.
71% of the earth’s surface is made up of oceans.
The human body contains a high percentage of water.

Usage

Yet despite these facts we are unconcerned and indifferent when it comes to our use of water.
We pollute rivers and seas, and waste water daily.

In the developed world we use water without a second thought.

Change

In spring, plants are blooming earlier than ever before.
Animals previously confined to the south of the country are increasingly being found in Northern England and Scotland.
Whether or not humans are responsible for climate change, it is happening.

Many people continue to be wasteful and hope that in their lifetime nothing will change.
They do not
respect the earth or consider their relationship with it.

We can live a life of deliberate ignorance or choose to change.

Conservation

If you work with nature, you invest in the future and lay the foundation for generations to come.
The good thing about helping to conserve water is that it is relatively easy.

For example:

Use the shower more.

Showering uses a fraction of the water that bathing does.

Buy a water butt and divert rainwater from your roof.
You will be able to water the garden and lawn without needing to turn on a tap.

Fix leaking taps quickly.

Get a ‘
hippo
water saver for your toilet; each flush will be reduced by between 2.5 and 3.5 litres of water.

Switch off the tap whilst you brush your teeth.
