But why must
pain, suffering and sadness be a part of a living universe?
Because it is through pain and suffering and a recognition of the fleetingness
of life that we gain sensitivity and sensitivity is life.
We can only live and love fully if we are sensitive to the fact that that which
we love will someday be lost to us. Only if we realize that life is rushing away
from us will we see the absolute necessity to live every second of our life to
the fullest.

Compensation
When you
injure yourself, it is common for the body to compensate.
In an attempt to avoid further pain, your body finds ways to work around
the injury.
You put more weight on the other leg.
You stop bending your knees.
You move differently.
As a consequence, your body fails to heal correctly.
If your body has developed a new way of moving that is
designed to work around an injury, what happens when the injury seems to
have healed?
The original way of moving does not simply reassert itself - you continue to
compensate.
Improperly healed
When your body heals improperly, there is a risk that the injury may return
or that the compensatory mechanism may lead to new discomfort.
The injury may not have fully healed; it may have just been hidden.
Physical tension and stiffness of the joints indicate holding patterns
within the body.
Body work encourages your body to let-go of
the compensation and heal fully.
This can be a painful process.
Your body must re-grow without the compensation and learn to move correctly
once again.

Gentle
Tai chi is one of the gentlest forms of treatment available
today.
Nothing is
forced.
The body is allowed to relax and unfold its tensions safely.
Compensatory habits will slowly emerge and you can learn new ways of moving
without too much discomfort.
Qigong is the easiest way in which to
release stored tension and unlock pain.
When your body feels safe and comfortable, you begin to experience mild
shaking during the exercise.
It is not painful.
The shaking is caused by energy imbalances within the body.
Bad habits
If your body usage habits are poor, an old injury will affect you again and
again.
Only by developing healthier alternatives can your body hope to heal and
remain mobile.
