Primal
Sex is not about power or possession. It is not about status,
ownership or competition.
At its simplest level, it is copulation and nothing more than that.
Nearly every creature on the planet copulates but only humans make such a mess
of things by adding meaning, rules and contracts.
Can you see the absurdity?
Convention
Taoism is not Christian.
It has a completely different approach to life and cannot be said to have any
values in the common sense of the word.
Marriage, fidelity and commitment are simply conventions that have arisen from
the Christian tradition.
Vows, oaths and promises mean nothing in reality; they are only as real as you
choose to make them.
In reality, people can do as they please.
Morality
Society educates people to be governed by concepts.
Regret, betrayal, disappointment, loss, attachment and guilt are all ways in
which to control people.
People have spent their whole lives in despair over incidents that have been
judged 'wrong'.
In reality, they simply failed to meet with somebody else's approval.
Right and wrong are relative to standpoint.
Which is worse: to regard your partner as your possession or to commit
infidelity because you seek companionship?
Conventions make life unnecessarily complicated, so taoism has little time for
them.
It asks a simple question: who is fit to judge anybody else?
Taoism advocates being true to your nature and allowing others to do the same.
If you treat other people with dignity, respect and consideration, you will not
go far wrong.
Serious
If you see sex as something serious; ask yourself why?
Taoism is filled with wayward rogues who rejected convention and followed their
feelings.
They advocated enjoying yourself.
As zen teaches: when hungry - eat, when tired - sleep...
You get the idea?
How many times have you refrained from sex because of an idea, a concept or a
rule?
People become stiff and uncomfortable with themselves as they grow older.
They get caught in routines and habits. Even sex can become the same. Why?
When a couple first meet, they have fun and enjoy one another. Life was not
complicated by responsibility and commitment.
Play
When you were a child you found it effortless to play. You can recapture that
same careless freedom.
To enjoy yourself fully, it is important to let-go and lose your
self-consciousness.
Be irresponsible, reckless, fickle, impulsive, daring and carefree... Why not?
If you treat sex as a game, you can have more fun.
