Why are people poor?
Because the rich take more than they need.
(Lao Tzu)
Nothing
Are you struggling to think of what to
buy somebody?
Christmas, birthday or
wedding is near and the person seems to have
everything and
cannot think of what they want?
Consider giving them Nothing.
For centuries
taoists have appreciated the importance of Nothing.
A house is a series of empty spaces, a vessel is only useful because it
contains Nothing.
Nothing is endlessly useful, it makes the perfect gift.
Something
If a person already has Something, then Nothing is ideal for them.
There is no point in giving them more Something.
You could give Something to somebody who has Nothing; there are plenty of
poor
people in the world.

Greed
We are encouraged to
want, to indulge,
to
possess, to be greedy, to spend money...
Why?
Commerce.
Periodically spending drops and companies have a sale in order to lure
people to spend money.
Advertising using every possible trick it can to persuade you that greed is
good and conscience is old fashioned.
Television, movies, magazines, billboards, newspapers and shops all
reinforce a public perception of greed.
If greed is so
good, why are so many people sleeping badly,
overweight,
depressed and divorced?
Something is lacking, but it cannot be bought.
