Self Defence


 

The body should respond immediately to the requests of the mind. The less the gap between the two, the more efficient the action will be (in medical terms this is called 'reflex').

Curry

This curry is easy to make and does not take too long to prepare.


Ingredients

The ingredients are fairly easy to obtain:

  1. 500g potatoes, peeled

  2. ½ teaspoon ground turmeric

  3. 1 teaspoon salt

  4. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  5. ½ teaspoon mustard seeds

  6. 8 curry leaves, chopped

  7. 2 large onions, coarsely chopped

  8. 2 large tomatoes, chopped

  9. ½ teaspoon aniseed

  10. ½ teaspoon cumin seeds

  11. Crushed/fresh chilli*

  12. 2 cloves garlic, sliced

  13. Juice of 1 lemon

  14. Chopped coriander

  15. Hot water

The curry can be eaten as a side dish.

*Add chilli relative to taste.


Step 1

Place potatoes in large pan with turmeric and salt, cover with water and boil until they are nearly done.

Drain, allow to cool somewhat. Chop potatoes coarsely.


Step 2

Fry mustard seeds in oil until they crackle. Add curry leaves, onion and tomatoes. Stir fry.

Blend aniseed, cumin seeds, chillies and garlic into fine paste.

Add potatoes and mix well. Add water if too dry.

Use lemon and coriander for garnish.
