Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd
say:
"In this world, Elwood, you must be..." - she always called me Elwood -
"In this world, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant.
And you may quote me.

Website
This is an on-line database exploring
tai
chi
and its related
philosophies.
It provides a brief introduction to some of the concepts
associated with
tai chi and the way in which our
school approaches the system.

Tai chi is more than simply an exercise or a martial art; it
addresses
how we live and the quality of our lives.
Without a deeper sense of the art, your understanding of the system will remain incomplete
and the benefits limited.
Navigation
Brown
words are hyperlinks.
Navigation bars can be found at the
foot of each
page.
We use an
A-Z contents
list rather than
a conventional site map.
This site is best viewed using Internet Explorer, text size Medium.

Visitors are welcome
We have written this website for our students to
read. It is a source of background
information.
Non-students are quite welcome to read the material, but should note that the
material was designed to supplement the lessons taught by our
school.
Not everything will make sense to non-students. Not everything will fit
with what you think, or know.
This
site offers a crude outline of how
our
school approaches tai chi and taoism.
Experience
Sifu has been training martial arts for 30 years. Tai chi for the
last
20.
Classes
Classes are held in
Newcastle and
Durham; where
we teach adults of all
ages,
shapes and sizes.
We offer
private
tuition throughout the day.
Students are encouraged to work at their own pace and
new starters
are welcome all year round.
Syllabus
We employ a
zen approach
to the study of tai chi, and the way in which the
syllabus
unfolds reflects this perspective.
There are two ways to learn tai chi in our school:
The complete syllabus (health
& self defence)
or
The abbreviated syllabus (health-only)
All students gain the health benefits of tai chi.
Health-only students are taught a pared-down syllabus, devoid of martial
content.
Students are welcome to follow either path and can
change their mind at any time.
