Code of conduct
We have a simple
code of conduct in place:
Respect
Please treat
everyone with care and consideration.
Beginners mind
All new members start at the beginning, regardless of prior experience.
Classes are for practice, not chatting or daydreaming
Continue
practicing until you are asked to stop.
If you need to rest, do so. But do not distract/disturb other students.
Questions?
Please keep any questions brief and relevant.
Restraint & consideration
Apply the material carefully and do not strike with
power unless asked to do so.
Composure
Keep your training friendly and calm.
Home training
Try and practice at home between lessons.
Inform teacher if you have an injury
Sign register & pay before commencing training
Etiquette
Most martial arts schools have some sort of class etiquette.
This may seem a bit stuffy or formal.
Yet, rules are necessary in a
self defence class.
It is easy to get carried away.
It is easy to be injured or cause injury.
By remaining
composed, loose
and friendly - safety can be encouraged.
Play,
rather than fight.
Aggression has no place in our school.
The samurai code of 'bushido'
serves as a template for personal conduct in a martial arts class.
A student should adhere to the code voluntarily.

Classes are for practice
Heavy repetition is the best way to train
your nervous system, muscles and memory. You also become more sensitive and
aware.
Please keep on training unless you are asked to stop.

Home training
This is similar to item 3. It is about practice.
The class introduces new material, corrects existing training and offers
partner work.
Yet, there are only 90 minutes in a given lesson.
Ideally, you should practice at home between classes.
