Self Defence

Moral excellence comes about as a result of habit.

We become just by doing just acts,
temperate by doing temperate acts,
brave by doing brave acts.

(Aristotle)

Breakfast

Starting your day in a healthy manner involves more than just exercise. Your food intake can make such a difference to your wellbeing.

Instead of just opening a box of pre-packaged cereal, consider how you 'break your fast'.

Lemon

It is good to start the day with a warm glass of water, flavoured by freshly squeezed lemon.

Green tea

Have some green tea whilst you train.

Green tea is available in most food shops nowadays. There is also a decaffeinated option.

Fruit

Before eating your breakfast cereal, prepare the way.
Drink a tall glass of natural orange juice, and eat a bowl of fresh fruit.
Eat slowly. Chew thoroughly.

Vary the colours and textures of the fruit - make it fun and interesting.

Muesli

Muesli can be tailored to suit your unique requirements. It is an excellent source of nutrients.

Preparing your own is much better than buying a pre-packaged product.
No additives or preservatives.
No flavouring or colouring.
The dish only contains what you put in it.

Use soya milk or reduced-fat milk.

Water

Drink plenty of water. Before you train, during your routine and afterwards.

Half warm and half cold is good.

Exercise

It is important not to eat before you exercise.
Give your body a couple of hours to digest food before you train.

Or better yet - train first, eat later.
