Self Defence

If there is love, then you will never kill another – never!
You will never kill an animal for food.

It is an immense thing to come upon it.
No one can give it to another.
Nobody can give it to you.

(Krishnamurti)

Smell

Chuck Palahniuk's book Non-fiction contains an article about technical rescue search dogs.
It is a fascinating narrative.
The dogs assist fire fighters and police in locating human bodies.

When the body dies, it secretes a smell that the dog uses to locate the dead.
The chemical components of this smell make the dog very unhappy.

Slaughterhouse

Imagine what an abattoir smells like to an animal? What about the delivery truck?
We blithely subject impossibly huge amounts of living creatures to suffering and death every day of the year.
What does this say about humans?

Animal sports

Bull fighting is an absurdly cruel endeavour.
What possible entertainment can be found in the slow torture and murder of the animal?

Fox hunting was recently banned in the UK, after untold years of death.

Captivity

Wild animals should not be kept as pets or exhibits; this is a
throwback to a Victorian era/religious mentality that humans have the right to treat other species how they wish.

How sad that people
think like this.

Humans have paid the price for their arrogance.
Look around you; so many people are self-
important, pushy, aggressive.
They do not have any compassion for anybody else, and live in an impatient fury at the inconvenient
world around them.
War has been waged between humans without pause for as long as humans have recorded history.

Do humans ever learn?

Protection in the wild

Imagine if branches of the armed forces were directed toward conservation?

They could be assigned a protection role and create a perimeter around the habitat of endangered species.
It would be patrolled with total competence and no poacher or hunter could possibly get close.
No more whaling, no more murder of seals, gorillas, tigers...

Many people would join the military.

Extinction

According to the Red List produced by the World Conservation Union, species extinction is between 1000 - 10000 times what it would naturally be.
This is caused by humanity.
